FANCY getting involved in the London Olympic Games in 2012, but can't run 100m in 10 secs?

The London Olympic Games needs up to 70,000 volunteers and for those eager to get involved this is an unmissable opportunity.

The recruitment stage for volunteers won't actually begin until 2010, but registering your interest early could help in the selection process.

To be a front-runner in the chance to be a volunteer at the 2012 Olympics simply register on the London Olympics website (see below).

The selection of volunteers will not be organised on a first come, first served basis, but on a range of reasons such as individual skills and previous volunteering experience.

Registering your interest does not mean you will be committing yourself to the games, but will be kept informed of developments over the coming years.

Leyton and Wanstead MP Harry Cohen is encouraging residents of the borough to get involved in local volunteering projects to help with their chances of selection.

He said: "I would certainly encourage youngesters to volunteer, but not just youngsters, this is for everyone. This is a chance to represent Rebridge, London and Great Britian in the Olympic Games."
