Deeming and Gunby get off at the mark at Woodford

GOLF

TWO golfers were on the mark at Woodford Golf Club.

Mark Deeming landed the Division One February Medal, while Marc Gunby captured the Division Two prize on Saturday.

Vice-captain Deeming, a Walthamstow police inspector who plays off six, just edged out 11-handicap Zekia Alsanjak after a count-back when both carded nett 69's.

Deeming's 75 was the lowest gross score on a chilly but sunny day.

Mike Smith (11 handicap) and Mark Bonham (13 handicap) came in with nett 70s.

South Woodford's Gunby hit the lowest gross score in Division Two to record a 68 nett off his 17 handicap.

Runner-up was Tony Webb with a scored 69, while Les Styles carded 70 for third spot.
