SPURS are in a three-way fight with Premier League rivals Newcastle and Middlesbrough to land highly-rated Turkish starlet Arda Turan, according to reports.

The 21-year-old midfielder has burst onto the scene in his homeland, scoring seven goals to help Galatasaray win the league title this season, and winning 16 senior international caps.

Turan's skillful style of play has seen him likened to Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi.

Newcastle are said to be favourites to snap up the youngster and are keen to get the deal done before Euro 2008 starts.

However, the Magpies are believed to be baulking at the £13 million asking price, which may leave the door open for Spurs to swoop in with a bid of their own.
